Today we head towards the city of Masindi and the expansive Murchison Falls Conservation Area, the largest in Uganda. Our first interaction with the local wildlife occurs during a walk in the Ziwa Reserve, where a conservation project has successfully reintroduced the rare white rhinos to Uganda. Subsequently, we enter the Murchison Falls National Park, where we plan a hike to the 'Top of the Falls', the highest point of the falls. Here, the Nile narrows into a tight gorge of only 7 meters before plunging 43 meters into the Albertine Rift Valley, creating a powerful roar and a series of fascinating sprays and rainbows. At the end of the day, we reach the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included. Transfers included. Excursions included. Today's transfer will take about 6 hours, part of which will be on dirt roads in the park, covering a distance of about 350 km.

day 3

MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK

We start the day with an exciting photo safari, where we will be accompanied by lions, giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and a variety of bird species. Our journey will take us to the Nile Delta in Lake Albert. After a refreshing lunch at the lodge, we will venture on a boat excursion on the Nile, surrounded by hippos and crocodiles. The day concludes with a walk that will take us to the top of the falls.

BUDONGO FOREST - BUGOMA FOREST

After a morning breakfast, we will head towards the magnificent Budongo Forest, located in the eco-tourism site of Kaniyo-Pabidi. Here we will have the opportunity to trek through the tropical forest and meet the fascinating chimpanzees in their natural habitat. The forest is also home to other primates such as black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, vervets, and baboons. This unique experience is made possible thanks to the years of work by the Jane Goodall Institute International for the protection of chimpanzees and the forest. We will have lunch at a local restaurant or enjoy a picnic. In the afternoon, we will continue our journey to Bugoma Forest, where we will have the chance to participate in a cultural activity in the local villages, led by local guides. This will be an opportunity to interact with the local people and learn about their way of life in an area adjacent to the forest.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included. Transfers included. Excursions included. Today's transfer is about three hours for a distance of about 180 km. Chimpanzee trekking in Uganda can be done according to the park's rules and can be booked either in the morning or in the afternoon.

day 5

bugoma

BUGOMA – QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

After enjoying breakfast, we plan a walk in nature to admire the Ugandan mangabey in the Bugoma Forest. Spanning 410 square kilometers, Bugoma is home to chimpanzees and Ugandan mangabeys. It is also the site of a conservation project managed by the Bugoma Forest Conservation Association. Thanks to the Association, we can enjoy this immersive nature experience, through ecotourism activities in Bugoma and the training of local guides, benefiting the surrounding communities. You have the opportunity to support the Association's conservation projects: the 'Every 5 Acres' reforestation project; the Chimp T-RAP private patrol to combat illegal logging; the public nursery to promote reforestation with indigenous trees; and the beekeeping project with local farmers. Here we will have access to local community products such as tea and honey. We will also participate in planting an indigenous tree in the reforestation project area, to help provide a new habitat for the chimpanzees. Afterwards, we will leave the Bugoma Forest heading southwest along Lake Albert and the Rift Valley escarpment, with breathtaking views as we head towards the Queen Elizabeth National Park. The route follows the Rwenzori Mountains range to the town of Kasese.

After this adventure, we return for a restorative lunch, before embarking on an afternoon boat excursion on the picturesque natural channel Kazinga. You will travel with travelers from other agencies: the larger the group, the more fun it is!
The trip is organized by tour operators and local guides, selected by Tramundi for you.

General trip information

The permits for mountain gorilla tracking (USD 700 per person) and chimpanzee trekking in Budongo Forest (USD 120 per person) are non-refundable.
This tour may be affected by fluctuations in the USD-EUR exchange rate. Should the deviation exceed 3%, an adjustment of the rates will become necessary.
With this program, we support the ASSOCIATION FOR THE CONSERVATION OF THE BUGOMA FOREST (ACBF). This Association aims to work for the protection and conservation of the Bugoma tropical forest, which is visited during the itinerary. It is an important protected reserve of over 400 square kilometers, rich in biodiversity, or a sanctuary for chimpanzees, about 500 of the total in Uganda of approximately five thousand, and other endemic monkey species, especially the Ugandan mangabey. Through the planned walk and eco-tourism activities managed by the Association, we help to conserve this forest at risk of destruction by sugar cane lobbies and illegal logging. You can then support the association's projects, including 'Every 5 Acres', with which we fight to acquire private lands to be reforested as tropical forest, which is an action against climate change through carbon sequestration. Our Bugoma Jungle Lodge is therefore part of this conservation project in Uganda.
Remember to bring a valid passport with an expiration date not less than 6 months at the time of entry into the country.
Customers are kindly requested to travel with metal water bottles.
The guides welcome the clients upon arrival at Entebbe airport after passport control and after retrieving their luggage in the area outside the arrivals. The guides are not allowed in the aforementioned protected areas.
