Useful information
- Portuguese. In tourist areas, knowledge of English, Spanish, and French is widespread.
- Passport or identity card valid for foreign travel and currently valid.
- The climate is mild throughout the year, similar to that of southern Italy, with more frequent rainfall in autumn and winter.
- If yolu go to Portugal you cannot miss Lisbon, Porto, the Algarve, Sintra, and the Douro Valley.
- Portugal boasts an extensive public transportation network that includes trains, trams, and buses, particularly in major cities such as Lisbon and Porto. Buses represent the most economical method, while renting a car offers the greatest flexibility, particularly to explore areas like the Algarve.
- The coast is famous for its seafood, while many tourists enjoy the famous Pastel de Nata (custard tart). In Porto you cannot miss a sip of local wines like Vinho Verde and Port wine. It’s important to know that items like bread, cheese, and olives served at restaurants are not free.
- Portoguese people follow a slower pace of life: be patient with the relaxed service in restaurants. You should always be aware of tourist traps in popular areas and we recommend you to check for free museum days.
