The land of the Maya and the Aztecs

Homepage / Americas / Mexico
Bathed by the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico, between the United States and Central America, lies the country of highlands and mountains, of volcanic and karst landscapes, of jungles and mangrove forests, of colorful Spanish colonial cities, of Maya and Aztec ruins, of pink and white beaches washed by warm turquoise waters.

What You Will See

In Mexico, you climb the temples built by pre-Columbian civilizations and admire the landscape from above. You cross a canyon by boat, immersed in the jungle, surrounded by howling monkeys, crocodiles, and toucans. You explore the natural reserves protected by UNESCO, surrounded by sea turtles and pink flamingos.
You dive into the waters of the cenotes in the Yucatán Peninsula or the blue waterfalls in Chiapas. You visit the lively Spanish colonial cities that have changed the history of the country, the agave plantations, and the immense capital: Mexico City, home to the most important museums in the country.
Some must-see stops on our travels:
Chichen Itza A Mayan archaeological site, one of the Seven Wonders of the World in the north of the Yucatan Peninsula. Here the Kukulkan temple is 25 meters high and consists of 365 steps, one for each day of the year.
Sumidero Canyon A deep fault one kilometer deep and 14 km long, crossed by the Grijalva River, surrounded by the jungle.
Calakmul A majestic site, known for its Maya pyramids, in the heart of the dense rainforest of the state of Campeche.
Tulum On the Caribbean coast at the far south of the so-called Riviera Maya, with its eco-archaeological park, the cliff overlooking the sea, the cenotes, and its white sand beaches.

The best time to visit Mexico

Mexico is ideal from November to April, with a warm and dry climate. Avoid the summer due to the heat, humidity, and hurricane season, especially on the coast.
