MEXICO CITY

Once we've enjoyed our breakfast, we'll set off to discover the splendors of Mexico City, erected on the remnants of the ancient Aztec capital, Tenochtitlan. Our journey begins at the Zocalo, one of the world's largest public squares. Here, we'll explore the Metropolitan Cathedral, Latin America's largest church, and the Templo. We'll then cruise down the renowned Paseo de la Reforma boulevard, constructed during Emperor Maximilian's brief rule to link the main square with his Chapultepec castle (note: castle visit not included). Our final stop is the National Museum of Anthropology, where we'll delve into the riches of Aztec culture. Our focus will be the Aztec Hall, home to the museum's crowning glory: the Aztec Calendar. This 12-foot, 25-ton basalt slab was unearthed beneath the Zocalo. We'll then savor lunch at a traditional taqueria, sampling the celebrated tacos al pastor. We'll then return to our hotel.
Breakfast and lunch included. Free lunch and dinner. Transfers included. Excursions included.

day 3

teotihuacan ruins

GUADALUPE SHRINE - TEOTIHUACAN ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE

Join us as we journey to the awe-inspiring archaeological marvel of Teotihuacan, situated 50km northeast of Mexico City. En route, we'll pause at the 'Plaza de las Tres Culturas', a unique spot where Aztec, Spanish, and modern Mexican cultures intersect. Our adventure continues to the Shrine de Guadalupe, the most venerated religious site in Latin America. This is where the Virgin of Guadalupe is believed to have revealed herself to an Indian named Juan Diego in 1531, leaving a miraculous image on his cloak. From there, we'll travel another hour to reach Teotihuacan, an ancient city held sacred by the Aztecs and one of the world's most remarkable historical sites. We'll delve into its temples, palaces, and pyramids, including the Quetzalpapalotl Palace, the Pyramid of the Moon, and the colossal Pyramid of the Sun, one of the largest in the world. We'll then return to Mexico City.
Breakfast included. Free lunch and dinner. Transfers included. Excursions included.

day 4

oaxaca

MEXICO CITY - CHOLULA - PUEBLA - OAXACA

We'll set off early for the World Heritage Site of Puebla, nestled 130km southeast of Mexico City. En route, we'll pause in Tonantzintla to marvel at its vibrant church. Its dome is a riot of color, adorned with stucco saints, devils, flowers, fruits, birds, and more – a stunning display of indigenous craftsmanship fused with Christian themes. Our journey continues to Cholula, home to the Great Pyramid of Cholula. Its remnants stretch 450m on each side of the base and stand 65m tall, surpassing even Egypt’s pyramid of Cheops in volume. Now cloaked in greenery and crowned by a church, it's hard to imagine this once majestic pyramid. We'll reach Puebla in time for lunch. Did you know that the 'mole poblano', Mexico’s national dish, was born here? We'll roam the colonial center, dotted with churches and colonial mansions, many embellished with the exquisite hand-painted Talavera tiles that Puebla is renowned for. From Puebla, our adventure carries on to Oaxaca.
Breakfast included. Free lunch and dinner. Transfers included. Excursions included.

day 5

OAXACA

Our journey begins after breakfast, as we explore the World Heritage Site of Oaxaca, a city rich in Mixtec and Zapotec history. Despite its colonial influences, the city's indigenous roots remain strong, thanks to its large indigenous population. We'll stroll through the heart of the colonial city, taking in the Cathedral's stunning baroque facade and the Iglesia de Santo Domingo, a church adorned with dazzling gold ornaments. Our walk leads us to the Benito Juarez Market, the city's hub for street food. Here, we'll sample the famous grasshoppers (chapulines), traditional mole, cheese, and quesadillas, all washed down with a glass of fresh fruit water. Our culinary adventure continues at the 20 de Noviembre Market, where we'll savor a traditional Tlayuda or a piece of grilled meat (tasajo) served with guacamole and baby onions. For dessert, we'll indulge in a typical Oaxacan candy, sherbet, or a local nicuatole. To conclude our tour, we'll enjoy a mezcal tasting featuring different agaves.
Breakfast and lunch (tasting typical dishes) included. Free lunch and dinner. Transfers included. Excursions included.
