More information regarding the schedule and meeting point of the first/last day will be provided after booking.

day 1

Jakarta at sunset

JAKARTA

Welcome to Jakarta! Our adventure begins today with a welcome meeting at 6:00 PM. If you arrive early, why not visit some of Jakarta's interesting museums, such as the Wayang (puppet), the Balai Seni Rupa (fine arts), and the maritime museums. The National Museum is great for first-time visitors.
There are no meals included on this day. Airport transfer not included. It is very important that you attend the welcome meeting because at this time we will collect insurance details and information about next of kin. In case of delay, please notify the travel agent or the hotel reception. Ask the reception or look for a note in the lobby for more information on where the meeting will take place.

day 2

metropolis

JAKARTA

Our journey in Indonesia begins with a city tour of Jakarta where we admire the Sunda Kelapa harbor, where the Dutch first landed, Chinatown filled with temples, and the old town of Batavia. We see Si Jagur - an old Portuguese cannon richly decorated with a masked meaning. Visit a Chinese villa (Chandra Naya) and get a glimpse of the beautiful Peranakan architecture. We stroll through Fatahillah Square, then explore the religious side of the city at the Cathedral Church and the Istiqlal Mosque, the largest mosque in Southeast Asia.
Breakfast included. Lunch and dinner not included. Excursions included. Transfers included.

day 3

boat ashore

PANGANDARAN

Today we spend a large part of the day traveling. We travel by train to Purwokerto City (about 5.5 hours), then we take a private minibus to Pangandaran (about 3 hours). Pangandaran is a small fishing village popular among visitors looking for a coastal escape. The Penanjung nature reserve on the adjacent peninsula boasts impressive flora and fauna!
Breakfast included. Lunch and dinner not included. Transfers included. Excursions included.

day 4

fishing boats

PANGANDARAN

We're setting off for a tour of the local surroundings, villages, artisan industries, and the impressive Green Canyon. The day trip begins with a stop at a local market to see products and home industries such as palm sugar production and rice crackers, as well as the famous Javanese wayang golek (traditional wooden puppets). We continue our tour towards the Green Canyon. We board our boat and head up the river (about 30 minutes) through a stunning jungle scene, before stopping for a swim in the canyon itself. This place, whose water is as green as the name suggests, is a popular hangout for the locals, so take the chance to interact. The day will take us to a nearby beach where we can take a break for lunch and swim in the afternoon before returning to our accommodation in Pangandaran.
Breakfast included. Lunch and dinner not included. Transfers included. Excursions included. Optional activities not included. Please note that after periods of heavy rain, the water flows brown instead of green. Weak swimmers are advised to continue wearing life jackets when swimming in the Canyon.

day 5

palace with a pond

YOGYAKARTA

Our tour of Indonesia continues towards Yogyakarta with a private minibus (1 hour of travel) which we then follow by train (about 4 hours). This city is one of the true gems of Southeast Asia. From batik workshops to nearby Hindu and Buddhist temples, the city offers a wide range of cultural avenues to explore.
Breakfast included. Lunch and dinner not included. Transfers included.

day 6

city

YOGYAKARTA

We get up early to catch the morning light and avoid the crowds at Borobudur Temple, the largest Buddhist structure on earth. This magnificent World Heritage Site is located in a peaceful park. Later, we enjoy an afternoon of free time. We might choose to visit one of the other historic temples in Yogya, perhaps this time a Hindu one. This evening we can attend a performance of the epic Ramayana Ballet.
Breakfast included. Lunch and dinner not included. Transfers included. Excursions included. Optional activities not included.

day 7

Yogyakarta from above

YOGYAKARTA

We cycle out of the city on a bike tour (about 6 km) through the rice fields and countryside surrounding Yogyakarta. We watch the local people in this area producing various products, from bricks to tofu. In addition to palm trees and lush green meadows, we will see an unusual burst of yellow and pink flowers along the roadside, offering great photographic opportunities. This bike tour is on relatively flat terrain, so it won't be too strenuous. There will be plenty of time to admire all the interesting scenes of local life at a leisurely pace. We will then have a free afternoon today and there are many activities to choose from in Yogyakarta. Perhaps a cooking class to learn about Indonesian cuisine or greet the sun with a yoga class: there's something for everyone!
Breakfast included. Lunch and dinner not included. Transfers included. Excursions included. Optional activities not included. If you do not wish to cycle, your leader can arrange a motorized rickshaw. For this service, a small fee of 100,000 IDR, payable locally, will be required.

day 8

plantation

SELOLIMAN NATURE RESERVE

We travel by train (about 4.5 hours) before transferring to a minivan (about 1 hour) to the Seloliman Nature Reserve. The peaceful Seloliman Nature Reserve is located on the slopes of the sacred Mount Penang Gungan volcano. This is a beautiful place to appreciate nature: make sure to sit under the stars tonight and enjoy the atmosphere of what's around you.
Breakfast and dinner included. Lunch not included. Transfers included. Excursions included. Please note that our accommodation tonight is in basic bungalows, with very simple toilet facilities. Due to the location in the jungle, there are often many insects, so make sure to bring insect repellent.

day 9

Mount Bromo

SELOLIMAN NATURE RESERVE – MOUNT BROMO

Today we join the reserve staff for a walk around the reserve, learning about the local environment and the Javanese tradition of phytotherapy (about 2.5 hours). We will get to know the flora and fauna of the region, traditional farming methods, rice production, and the mini hydroelectric plant. It ends with a traditional jamu demonstration and a tasting of this Javanese herbal medicine. Continuing to the Mount Bromo, the timeless homeland of the Tenggerese (about 4 hours). The still-active volcano – standing at 2329 meters – is the most famous in the Tengger massif.
Breakfast and lunch included. Dinner not included. Transfers included. Excursions included. Your accommodation tonight is in villas and each villa has two bedrooms with a shared living room and a shared bathroom. Please note that the jeeps used on this day are not equipped with seat belts.

day 10

view of Mount Bromo at sunset

MOUNT BROMO – KALIBARU

Our tour continues with a Jeep excursion to reach a panoramic point to admire the sunrise. Then we descend with the jeep towards the sea of sand and climb up to the volcano crater. The ascent is not too difficult (about 45 minutes), but it can be very cold, so don't forget to bring extra layers of clothing. It's also worth bringing a scarf to cover your nose and mouth, as there can be dust. We return to the hotel to freshen up and then leave mid-morning for Kalibaru in a private minivan (about 5.5 hours). We will stop for lunch along the way, then in the afternoon, free time to relax by the pool or perhaps indulge in a local massage.
Breakfast included. Lunch and dinner on your own. Transfers included. Excursions included. Mount Bromo is one of the highlights of the trip but it's very popular, so expect it to be crowded during holiday periods. During periods of increased volcanic activity, the crater of Mount Bromo is closed. There may be changes to your sunrise excursion and to this part of the trip depending on the necessary safety precautions. Please note that the jeeps used on this day are not equipped with seat belts.

day 11

verdant seafront

KALIBARU – PEMUTERAN

We leave early in the morning to visit the nearby coffee and cocoa plantations. We will see how coffee is dried and, if there's time, how cocoa is fermented. Before we leave, let's enjoy a nice cup of coffee or tea and have a snack with a fried banana. Travel by minibus to the eastern tip of Java - Gilimanuk (about 3 hours). There is often a lot of heavy traffic on this stretch of road as it is the main entry point for Bali, so there may be delays. Afterwards, we will board a ferry across the Java Strait (about 1 hour), before getting on another minibus for a trip along the west coast of Bali (about 1 hour). We continue to Pemuteran, our destination for the next two nights.
Breakfast included. Lunch and dinner not included. Transfers included. Excursions included.

day 12

panoramic view

PEMUTERAN

Let's enjoy a relaxing day in this beautiful beach location. Perhaps start the day with a calming yoga session and then explore the local area at your own pace. You could visit the surrounding temples full of monkeys, go swimming off the coast or consider booking a snorkeling or diving expedition in the turquoise waters teeming with marine life of Menjangan Island. Otherwise, just sit back, relax, and watch the fishermen go about their daily business on one of the beaches.
Breakfast included. Lunch and dinner not included. Optional activities not included.

day 13

UBUD

Our journey in Indonesia continues to Ubud with a trip of about 5 hours. Along the way, we stop at the Taman Ayun temple, admiring the impressive Balinese architecture as we stroll through the peaceful gardens. Ubud is the main artistic and cultural center of Bali, a bustling hub of markets, shops, and warungs, close to verdant rice terraces and lush jungles. With nature and wellness at its heart, Ubud is a highland paradise in Bali. It's a wonderful place to experience the magic that has made Bali such a popular travel destination. Tonight, why not gather a group of your travel friends and find a local spot to enjoy some traditional Balinese cuisine.
Breakfast included. Lunch and dinner not included. Transfers included. Excursions included. Optional activities not included.
