There are long days of travel by public transport, but don't worry, the public buses in Malaysia are spacious and comfortable. Stock up on snacks and drinks for the journey and sit back and watch the scenery go by.
The accommodation with our family is simple, but staying overnight in the village families' homes is a highlight of the trip for most travelers. Bathrooms are shared with other travelers and host families, and some may only have showers with cold water. Most homes have fan cooling systems rather than air conditioning.
The climate in Malaysia is generally hot and humid, so prepare for some steamy days regardless of the time of year you visit. It tends to be more humid and wet from May to October, but the temperature remains fairly constant throughout the year.
