Discovering Iceland's Golden Circle!

Welcome to Iceland! We will meet directly at the hotel in Reykjavík. Check-in and welcome meeting with the local guide at 6:00 PM. In the evening, free time is available to start exploring the world's northernmost capital.

Our journey in Iceland begins on the Reykjanes peninsula. We make a stop at the Bridge between Continents, a pedestrian bridge that crosses a fissure between the North American and European continental plates and we visit the mysterious mud pools and steam vents of Gunnuhver, so named for the angry ghost believed to have been trapped in the hot springs 400 years ago. After a visit to the Lutheran church of Strandarkirkja we head to a leading sustainable farm in responsible tourism where we dine on locally grown food and stay overnight.

We continue our tour in Iceland and dedicate the third day to exploring the famous Golden Circle. We head towards the geothermal area of Geysir where we watch geysers literally explode up to 30 meters high in the air. We proceed with a visit to the Gullfoss waterfall on the Hvita river and with a dip in the warm waters of the Secret Lagoon. Fed by various hot springs in the surrounding area, this place is the oldest pool in Iceland.

This morning, we're off to explore the majestic and awe-inspiring Seljalandsfoss, Skogafoss, and Kvernufoos waterfalls, set against a backdrop of moss-covered lava cliffs. Weather permitting, we're gearing up for a walk on one of Europe's largest ice caps: the mighty Solheimajokull glacier.

On the fifth day in Iceland we head to Reykjavik. Along the way, we stop at the Thingvellir National Park to see the plains of the Parliament, home of the first Icelandic parliament. Thingvellir also contains the Silfra fissure, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are slowly drifting apart. Once back in Reykjavik, our guide will take us on a walking tour to learn more about the history and culture of this fascinating city. After the city tour, we can say goodbye to Iceland, until next time!
