day 1

ISTANBUL

ISTANBUL

Welcome to Turkey, to Istanbul, the metropolis straddling continents that Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, and Ottomans have all called home. Our adventure begins with a welcome meeting at 13:00, followed by a guided tour of the Old City with an expert guide. We visit the scene of many chariot races in the ancient hippodrome, the Blue Mosque, a stroll through the goods of the Grand Bazaar, and admire the architectural masterpiece that is Suleymaniye Mosque.
Airport transfer not included. No meals are included during this day. Excursions included. It is very important to attend the welcome meeting as we will collect insurance details and various information at this time. In case of delay, please notify the travel agent or the hotel reception.

day 2

ÇANAKKALE

6 hours
Our journey in Turkey begins with our departure for Canakkale, a port city on the southern shore of the Dardanelles. We stop along the way to explore Gallipoli on a guided tour that will teach us about the significant events and history embedded in this area. Our guide will take us to ANZAC Cove and the main memorial sites such as Brighton Beach and the ANZAC commemorative site. We also admire the view of the Dardanelles Strait and the Gallipoli Peninsula. Tonight we will spend the night in Canakkale with some free time to have dinner and get ready for tomorrow's adventures.
Breakfast included. Lunch and dinner not provided. Transfers included. Excursions included.

day 3

Kusadasi peninsula

KUSADASI

7h
This morning we will go to Selcuk with a stop at Troy, where history and mythology stand side by side along the way. We wander through the ancient city walls and will also have the chance to enjoy a photo with a replica of the Trojan Horse. In the city, on the slopes of Ayasoluk hill, several historic buildings are located: the Isa Bey Mosque, a splendid example of 14th-century Seljuk Turkish architecture, and the imposing Byzantine citadel of the Great Fortress. We visit the picturesque village of Sirince and taste some locally produced fruit wines. This authentic Greek-Ottoman village seems to have been overlooked by modern development, and the unique local architecture nestled among the hills is a photographer's dream. We continue on to the sea of Kusadasi.
Breakfast included. Lunch and dinner not provided. Transfers included. Excursions included.

day 4

EPHESUS

This morning, we are taking a private minivan to visit the ruins of the ancient city of Ephesus, one of the best-preserved Greco-Roman classical cities in the world. Once the capital of Roman Asia Minor, the city has a fascinating history. Considering their age, the ruins are in an incredible state, and it's not hard to imagine them in their full glory over 2000 years ago, complete with running water, public baths, a medical institute, and Roman baths. The theater is well-preserved and regularly hosts concerts, but it is perhaps the magnificent library that is most striking. We stop for lunch at a family-run restaurant. We return to Kusadasi for a free afternoon. We then get ready for the transfer to Izmir in the early evening with an overnight train.
Breakfast and lunch included. Dinner on your own. Transfers included. Excursions included. Overnight journey tonight on the Mavi Konya: the sleeping berths are twin-bedded and come with excellent amenities including a sink, a small refrigerator, and ample luggage storage. Fresh bed linen is provided, but you will need to make your own bed. Western-style toilets are available in each carriage, but it is advisable to bring additional toilet paper. There is a dining car for breakfast in the morning and if you get hungry during the evening. You can even enjoy a local beer while playing backgammon.

KONYA – CAPPADOCIA

3h
Our journey through Turkey continues to Konya, a traditional Turkish city closely tied to the whirling dervish sect of Islam, developed in the 13th century by Celaleddin Rumi, regarded as one of Islam's greatest Sufi mystics. We'll explore the Mevlana Museum and stretch our legs in the city before hitting the road to Cappadocia. Along the way, we'll stop at one of the underground cities that once provided a safe haven during times of war or persecution. We'll arrive in the city of Cappadocia in the late afternoon, take a stroll in the valley at sunset before settling in for the evening. Tonight, we'll be offered a stay in a local cave hotel, a unique experience that Cappadocia is famous for.
There are no meals included during this day. Transfers included. Excursions included.

day 6

cappadocia mountains

CAPPADOCIA

This morning we have the opportunity to take a hot air balloon flight, a once-in-a-lifetime experience during which the sun illuminates a skyline dotted with balloons. Even if you prefer not to take a flight, it's still worth waking up for this truly incredible show. Later this morning, let's enjoy a guided walk through one of the nearby valleys, perhaps the Valley of Love, which features fairy chimneys, houses, and churches carved into the rock. We'll cross a series of fantastic scenic routes and a nice walk is by far the best way to experience this unique environment. Free time available. This evening we will be warmly welcomed into a local cave where the family will prepare a special homemade dinner.
Breakfast and dinner included. Lunch is not included. Excursions included. Optional activities not included. Undoubtedly, one of the most beautiful memories of this trip is a hot air balloon ride over the majestic landscape to admire this otherworldly scenery at sunrise. Those interested in this optional extra will have a truly extraordinary experience. The cost of this activity varies depending on the type of flight chosen. This activity can only be booked on site. Please speak with the group leader on the first day to arrange this activity. Due to local regulations, the timing of sunrise hot air balloon excursions may vary, so it is possible that the excursion will start immediately after sunrise. This is at the discretion of the tour provider and is not under our control.

day 7

CAPPADOCIA – ISTANBUL

We bid farewell to Cappadocia and head to the airport for our return flight to Istanbul (arrival is expected between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM), then we grab our suitcases and jump on the subway as the group heads to the Sultanahmet district for the last evening of the trip. We stroll across the Galata Bridge towards one of the city's most fashionable neighborhoods, a place of contradictions where musical instrument traders share space with chic cafes and galleries: this is the place to see. Perhaps, try one of the local favorites, balik ekmek (fish sandwich), for dinner, then cleanse your palate with a baklava. Maybe check out some bars or simply enjoy a farewell cay (Turkish tea) with a view of the Bosphorus.
Breakfast included. Lunch and dinner not provided. Internal flight included. Transfers included. Excursions included.
