day 1

colorful typical houses of Copenhagen

COPENHAGEN

Welcome to Copenhagen. If you arrive early, which is highly recommended, why not visit the pastel-colored houses on the waterfront in the Nyhavn area. Stop by an industrial-chic bar for a drink or stroll through the famous Tivoli Gardens, home to the world's oldest roller coasters. Another area to visit is Norrebro, a residential area known for its wide range of restaurants. Meet your group at 18:00, then head out for an optional group dinner if you like.
There are no meals included on this day. The adventure begins with a welcome meeting at 6:00 PM. Look for a note in the hotel lobby or ask the hotel reception where it will take place. If you are going to be late, please inform the hotel reception. At this meeting, we will collect your insurance details and next of kin information, so make sure to have all these details to provide to your leader. If you can't arrange a flight that gets in on time, you might want to arrive a day earlier so you can attend the welcome meeting. We would be happy to book additional accommodation for you (subject to availability). Optional activities not included.

day 2

The Little Mermaid of Copenhagen

COPENHAGEN

When you are in Copenhagen, do as the locals do and explore the city by bike, undoubtedly the best way to discover the many hidden corners of the city. Venture into the Freetown of Christiania with a local guide, a self-proclaimed autonomous neighborhood southeast of the city center. It is governed by a special law, the Christiania Law of 1989, and has been a source of controversy since 1971, when squatters took over a former military area. The rest of the afternoon is free for you to further explore this Scandinavian city. Stroll along the harbor or head towards the classicist palaces of the 18th-century Amalienborg, still today the main residence of the Danish royal family. Perhaps pay a visit to Frederik's Church, also known as the Marble Church, the courthouse at Nytorv square, or admire the red brick facade of the city hall. Alternatively, the National Museum is not to be missed, nor is the Christiansborg Palace in the center of Copenhagen.
Breakfast included. Lunch and dinner on your own. Included activities: Copenhagen - Visit to Freetown Christiania with a local guide, Copenhagen - Bicycle tour. Please note that hotel rooms in Scandinavia can often be smaller and simpler compared to accommodations in other parts of Europe. The bicycle tour can vary in length depending on the group's ability, but it is usually about 10 km (2-2.5 hours). Copenhagen is a flat city, so there are no hills, but if you do not feel comfortable cycling you can opt out of this activity.

day 3

view of Malmo along the river

MALMO – GOTHENBURG

A morning train journey will take us to Malmo in Sweden, across the famous Oresund Bridge spanning the strait that separates Denmark and the Scandinavian peninsula (about 1 hour). Malmo has undergone a kind of transformation, or should we say rebirth, over the past twenty years thanks to the construction of the Oresund Bridge and the opening of Malmo University. Now, a city that once primarily depended on shipbuilding is steadily growing with architectural studios, IT companies, students, and startups. Just under half of Malmo's population is under 35 years old, so it is now truly a progressive city that knows how to have fun. Spend some time visiting the Old Town, the castle, and the harbor, then continue to Gothenburg (about 3 hours), where you will spend the night.
Breakfast included. Lunch and dinner on your own. Transfers included. Included activities: Malmo - The leader guided walk. Please note that our accommodation in Gothenburg has a shared communal bathroom. Since Gothenburg has been at the top of the Global Destination Sustainability Index for several years now, the city is considered one of the greenest hotel cities in the world. Our hotel is no exception and holds an official eco-certification.

day 4

Gothenburg city

GOTHENBURG

Today is a free day for you to enjoy all that Gothenburg has to offer. Perhaps embark on a cruise this morning through the numerous waterways of Gothenburg, passing by the opera house, the famous Feskekörka fish market (literally Fish Church) and the old docks. Or visit the Gothenburg City Museum, housed in the former East India Company House and built during the period when Gothenburg was an important maritime trading center. Admire the architectural complex of Gustav Adolfs Torg, go shopping along the main boulevard Avenyn, take a look at the iconic Skansen Kronan, stroll along the bohemian street Långgatan or sip a coffee in the charming district of Haga, known for its picturesque wooden houses and 19th-century atmosphere and the so-called hagabulle, a cinnamon bun similar to the kanelbulle.
Breakfast included. Lunch and dinner not provided. Optional activities not included.

day 5

center of Vrångö island

VRANGO ISLAND – GOTHENBURG

Take an early morning ferry from Gothenburg to the island of Vrango, about an hour and 20 minutes away. Vrango is the southernmost island of the Gothenburg archipelago, with a permanent population of a few hundred people and a strong fishing industry. The island is known for its beautiful beaches and protected nature reserves, and you'll explore the coast in a kayak activity included (summer only). In the afternoon, enjoy some free time walking around the town or perhaps try an optional floating sauna, before heading back to Gothenburg for a free evening. Sweden's second-largest city is known as the world's most sustainable destination and is an exemplary example of what a responsible tourist destination should be like.
Breakfast included. Lunch and dinner on your own. Transfers included. Activities included: Vrango Island - One day trip Vrango Island - Island tour with local guide (from October to April) Vrango Island - Sea kayaking (from May to September). Please note that today's kayaking activity only takes place during the summer months from May to September and is subject to weather conditions. During the winter months from October to April, you will instead explore the island with a guided tour of the island.

day 6

view of Oslo

OSLO

Take a morning bus across the border to the Norwegian capital Oslo (about 4 hours). The tour leader will take you on an initial orientation walk so you can get a first taste of this quirky and colorful city. It's definitely worth spending the day enjoying delicacies at Maschmanns Food Market, admiring the work of glassblowers at Hadeland Glassverk, or simply strolling along Karl Johans Gate, the city's main shopping street, or heading to the National Gallery of Art to catch a glimpse of Edvard Munch's famous 19th-century painting, The Scream. In the evening, say "skal" ("cheers") to the group during dinner. Why not try some traditional Norwegian dishes made with cod and mackerel.
Breakfast included. Lunch and dinner not provided. Transfers included. Activities included: Oslo - The leader led the march.

day 7

Oslo harbor

OSLO

Your journey ends today after breakfast and you may leave your accommodation at any time. If you wish to extend your stay in Oslo, please discuss this with your travel agent at the time of booking as we would be happy to arrange additional accommodation for you (subject to availability).

Important things to know

Trip features

Journey open to travelers with no age restrictions.
You will travel with travelers from other agencies: the larger the group, the more fun it is!
The trip is organized by tour operators and local guides, selected by Tramundi for you.

General trip information

Remember to bring an identity card or a passport that is valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into the country.
We ask you to report any food allergies and/or intolerances immediately after booking.
The itinerary may undergo some changes before and/or during the trip.
A single supplement is available if you prefer not to share a room during this trip. The single supplement applies to all nights of the trip and is subject to availability.
You don't have much time available in Oslo at the end of your trip, so if you want to thoroughly explore this spectacular city, we recommend extending your stay by a day or two.
The areas visited on this trip can be very cold at night throughout the year, especially at the beginning and end of the season and during the winter months. On the other hand, summers can have mixed weather, with some very hot days. Please familiarize yourself with the expected climate and bring appropriate clothing for adverse weather conditions, including base layers, hat, gloves, scarf, coat, and anything else you think might be applicable.
Scandinavia can be an expensive destination in many ways, from museum entrance fees to optional activities, but especially in terms of dining. Keep this in mind when booking your trip. Your leader will be available to advise you on how to save money.
Please note that on this trip there will not be much time in Oslo and Copenhagen - extra time is recommended for both cities. Please consult your agent for booking additional accommodations in both cities (subject to availability).
Hotels in Europe often do not have double beds, but rather two single beds that can be joined/separated. Rooms in Scandinavia tend to be small and occasionally the bathrooms will be shared with other guests.
On this trip, you should pack your bags as lightly as possible because you will have to carry your own luggage and although you won't be required to walk long distances with it (max 30 minutes), we strongly advise keeping the weight under 15 kg / 33 lbs. Most travelers carry their luggage in a backpack, although a travel bag with a shoulder strap would suffice if you're traveling light. Smaller bags or backpacks with wheels are convenient, but we recommend that your bag has carrying straps to cope with cobblestone streets, uneven surfaces, stairs, and steps you may encounter while transporting your luggage. You will also need a daypack/bag to carry water and a camera, etc., for day trips.
This journey offers you a taste of southern Scandinavia that doesn't cover the Norwegian fjords. If you wish to explore further, you might consider looking at longer trips: from Copenhagen to northern Norway, the Scandinavian and Baltic circuit, and complete Scandinavia.
