CORSICA

Join us for breakfast at the hotel before we embark on a journey to Corsica. We'll drive to Santa Teresa di Gallura's harbour, located at the northernmost tip of Sardinia. From here, we'll board a ferry to Bonifacio, a trip that takes just an hour. The seaway between Corsica and Sardinia spans 13 km, offering a scenic journey between the two islands. Bonifacio, like many harbour cities, boasts a rich history. This ancient commercial city, established between 823 and 833 by the marquis of Tuscany, is divided into the 'Marina' quarter, the lower city, and the 'upper city' perched on a promontory. From here, you can soak in the breathtaking panorama, and on clear days, catch a glimpse of the Sardinian coast. A tourist train will take us to the upper part for a guided walking tour of about an hour. Next, we'll drive to Ajaccio, taking the route towards Sartène. Along the way, don't miss the famous lion of Roccapina and its dreamy cove. Once in Sartène, we'll start our city tour at Place de la Liberation, home to the war memorial, town hall, and the imposing Sainte Marie church. We'll continue through the Santa Anna district, a medieval maze of small paved alleys, stairs, passages, and arches, lined with grey granite houses. We'll also visit the Corsican Prehistory Museum in rue Croce. Leaving Sartène, we'll head towards Propriano, a charming town with a quaint marina. We'll then take the D 757 to the prehistoric station of Filitosa, a site that encapsulates the Neolithic, megalithic, Torrean, and Roman periods of Corsican history. We'll continue on this road, crossing Calvèse and Sollacaro, before joining the RN 196 towards the Ajaccio area. We'll spend the night here, ready for the next day's adventures.
Breakfast included. Free lunch and dinner. Excursions included. Transfers by ferry included. Transfers with your rental car included.

day 3

sea in calan che piana

CALANCHE OF PIANA - PORTO

After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, we'll set off for Sagone. From this vantage point, we can spot the village of Cargèse, affectionately known as 'la greque'. This village, established on the site of a 17th-century Greek colony, is unique for its two face-to-face churches - one Greek Orthodox and the other Roman Catholic. As we wander through the narrow streets, we'll have the chance to taste Bastelle, vegetable tartlets, or Ambruciate, tartlets made with Brocciu cheese. From Cargèse, our journey continues to Piana, recognized as one of the Most Beautiful Villages of France. Overlooking the Gulf of Porto and opposite the peninsulas of Senino and Scandola, Piana offers breathtaking views. We'll then take the winding route to Porto, where the rocky creeks, or Calanques, of Piana await us. The rugged coastline of pink granite rock contrasting with the blue sea and the intense green of the Maquis is a sight to behold. We'll make sure to stop at one of the car parks along the Calanques to admire the superb rock formations. In Porto, we have the option to board passenger boats that visit the Scandola reserve and the cove of Girolata with its small Genoese fort. This sanctuary is home to a rich variety of animal and plant life. For those who prefer the mountains, we'll head to Evisa, a picturesque village where walking trails meet at one of Corsica’s most beautiful forests of Laricio pine. Our return journey to Ajaccio takes us via Vico, a warm and lively Corsican village, and the Saint-François convent, known for its 17th-century church housing the oldest wooden statue of Christ in Corsica. We'll then return to the hotel for a well-deserved rest.
Breakfast included. Free lunch and dinner. Excursions included. Optional activities not included. Transfers with your rental car included.

day 4

village of corte

CORTE - CENTRE OF CORSICA

Join us for breakfast at the hotel before we embark on a journey to the heart of Corsica, a place rich in tradition, history, and culture. Nestled between Bastia and Ajaccio, this region's stunning landscapes and plethora of outdoor activities will captivate you. Our first stop is Corte, the historic capital of Corsica, established in 1755 by Pasquale Paoli, the Father of the Corsican Nation. The city's Citadel, the only one of its kind inland, offers a breathtaking view of the Restonica and Tavignanu valleys from its Eagle's Nest belvedere. Our journey continues through the Venachese, a region of nine villages surrounded by forests of larici pines and beeches, nestled between the Monte d'Oru and Cardu. This land of pastoralism and transhumance is a treasure trove of culinary and artisanal traditions. The region's diverse natural beauty, from steep peaks and high plateaus to sumptuous valleys and waterways, is home to unique flora and fauna. Don't worry if you're not an experienced athlete, there are plenty of trails suitable for less experienced walkers and families. After a day of hiking, biking, or horseback riding, cool off with a swim in the rivers of the Restonica, Tavignanu, or Verghellu valleys. For the thrill-seekers, there's canyoning or giant zip lines. Visit the Museum of Anthropology of Corsica, located in the Serrurier barracks, and the FRAC (Regional Contemporary Art Fund of Corsica) for a dose of culture and history. Make your own souvenir at the Fab Lab, located in the Palazzu Naziunale. Take a stroll through Corte with the Heritage Trail, or explore the Venacais with the I trè paesi trail. Don't miss the Vechju Bridge near Vivario, a masterpiece by Gustave Eiffel. Finally, the Route des Sens will take you to meet local producers and artisans. We'll then head back to Ajaccio for an overnight stay at the hotel.
Breakfast included. Free lunch and dinner. Excursions included. Optional activities not included. Transfers with your rental car included.

day 5

sea in ajaccio

AJACCIO

Join us for breakfast at your hotel before we embark on a tour of Ajaccio, Corsica's most stylish city. We'll stroll along elegant boulevards like Cours Napoleon, admiring the pastel-hued houses of the old town. Ajaccio is the birthplace of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, and you'll find his stone likeness throughout the city. We'll visit the Maison Bonaparte, where the French Emperor was born, and the Fesch Museum, home to a vast collection of European paintings from the 14th to 19th centuries. This collection is second only to the Musée du Louvre's collection of primitive Italian paintings. The museum is conveniently located next to the Imperial Chapel, the final resting place of the Bonaparte family. Next, we'll drive to Cap Parata for a breathtaking panoramic view of the Sanguinaires Islands. In the afternoon, we'll drive to Bonifacio and board a ferry to Santa Teresa in Sardinia. From there, we'll drive to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Breakfast included. Free lunch and dinner. Excursions included. Transfers by ferry included. Transfers with your rental car included.
