Road trip to Maggiore and Como lakes

Drive your car to Baveno, near Lake Maggiore where you'll be comfortably accommodated at Hotel Rosa (or a similar establishment). Your room will be ready and waiting for you. We recommend taking a detour to visit the charming town of Stresa on your way. Your overnight stay will be at the hotel, ensuring a restful night to recharge for the adventures ahead.

Join us for breakfast at the hotel before we embark on a day dedicated to exploring Lake Maggiore, the westernmost of the three large pre-Alpine lakes. Thanks to its mild climate, both in summer and winter, Mediterranean-type vegetation thrives here, and it's not uncommon to spot exotic plants in the gardens. From Stresa, we'll set sail to visit the Borromeo islands (Isola Madre and Isola Bella), home to the Borromeo residences. These residences house invaluable works of art and lush gardens, a classic example of an Italian garden of the time. After our island visit, we suggest a leisurely stroll along the lakeside towards Pallanza and Intra. Here, at the Punta della Castagnola, you'll find Villa Taranto and its breathtakingly beautiful park, which spans an area of 20 hectares and features avenues, waterfalls, fountains, and panoramic terraces. We'll conclude our day with an overnight stay at the hotel.

En route, don't miss the chance to visit the historic Sanctuary of the Sacred Mount, dating back to 1491. Upon reaching Orta San Giulio, we recommend a boat trip to the island of San Giulio, where you can explore the ancient Roman basilica. After a day filled with adventure, return to Stresa for a restful night at the hotel.

Drive to Lake Como after a hearty breakfast. Our first stop is the city of Como, where we'll explore the majestic Cathedral, the serene Church of Sant’Abbondio, and the historic Palazzo Broletto. If time permits, we recommend taking the Funicular from Como to Brunate for a breathtaking panoramic view of Como. We'll conclude the day with an overnight stay in the Como area, ensuring you're well-rested for the adventures that await.

Join us for breakfast at the hotel before we embark on a full day's exploration of the stunning Lake Como. We'll set sail after breakfast, heading straight for the majestic Villa Carlotta. As we navigate through the charming former hamlet of Tremezzo, we'll arrive at Villa Carlotta, a gem that enjoys a uniquely privileged position overlooking Lake Como. Not only is it renowned for its breathtaking geographical location, but also for its exquisite botanical garden. This magnificent villa, dating back to the 1600s, was constructed by Giorgio Clerici. Inside the Italian gardens that envelop the villa, you'll find some of Canova's lesser-known sculptures, which are simply incredible. The botanical garden is a paradise for plant lovers, boasting as many as 150 different species of azaleas. After a day filled with beauty and discovery, we'll return to the hotel for a good night's rest.
